Norman Tucker RIP

Posted 2nd September 2024

It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of Norman Tucker, a distinguished Old Wilsonian,  who was at the school from 1945 until 1952
Upon leaving school Norman joined the Old Wilsonians where he played in goal for the Football Club, but he will probably be  best remembered as part of the OW's great cricketing side of the late 50s, early 60s.
Initially Norman played both sports at the school ground in Dulwich, this being before the Club purchased our current ground in Hayes, and it was here that the team, and Norman, flourished, particularly on a Sunday which was an all day game at that time
Norman used to open the batting with Pat Fitzsimmons, a man who took a great liking to any type of bowling, and invariably the lunch time score used to read:  “120  for  1,  last man 110”, Norman being 6 not out at the interval, a solid but important contribution
Norman  and his wife Angela, who pre-deceased him, moved to America many years ago and I used to speak to him on a (reasonably) regular basis and he was always keen to hear the news of the Club and was one of the few Old Wilsonians who continued to receive NOW (News of Old Wilsonians) by post
We offer our condolences to his daughter, Jane, son, Nicholas,   and the rest of the Tucker family
