Davis Cup Legacy Programme Comes to Old Wilsonians’ LTC

Posted 7th March 2016

In order to build on the success of the GB team winning the Davis Cup in 2015, the LTA is developing a series of events to promote tennis, increase participation in order to build a lasting legacy from that win.

Old Wilsonians’ LTC and RAW Tennis will together be running coaching events as part of the Davis Cup Legacy Programme. Jake Johnson will be leading 2 sets of coaching events during the summer. Each will consist of a 6 week coaching course for 10 players (5-8yr olds) who have never taken part in a tennis programme before. The course will run in the period of the school summer term or the summer holiday – the precise dates haven’t yet been fixed.

Every new participant will receive a FREE racket and the club will get a bucket of red tennis balls to help with the event.

As part of the application process Jake had to submit a video, explaining about himself, his coaching and why he wanted to be part of the Davis Cup legacy. And to talk about his successes as a coach.
