2018 Tennis Handicap tournament

Posted 21st January 2018

The 2018 Handicap Tournament begins on Monday 12 February and will end this year with a Finals Day on Sunday 29 April. The entry cut off date is Monday 5 February.

All members, including Juniors (aged 11 and over, playing with a yellow ball and with prior approval from Head Coach Jake), are welcome to enter.

This year we have made a change to the rules for the singles event only in the hope it will encourage more players to enter. In the past singles matches could last a long time, particularly if one player was on a tough negative handicap. We know that has put some members off. So this year the SINGLES event will be the best of 3 tie breaks up to 25 points. Positive and negative handicaps will exist but these matches will be of a much more predictable length. Please give it a go.
In the doubles, pairs will be drawn from the entrants and the handicaps will be considered for the pair as a whole. The doubles event will continue to be contested over 3 sets with tiebreaks at 6-6 if needed.
Rules will be posted on the notice board alongside the draw.

Entry lists for the Tournament are available in both tennis pavilions. Please enter asap and encourage others to enter too. Alternatively, please contact Derek Seston at familyseston@tiscali.co.uk.
