OWFC on 25th/29th April 2017: W0 D1 L3 GF8 GA25 GD-17
The final round of fixtures for the 2016-17 season were played over the weekend with the last chance of a trophy for the 3s and a league point for the 9s.
The 3s travelled to Old Parmiterians in the Spring Cup final, but were unlucky to lose 4-2 after missing a few good chances to see the game out. While in the depths of Minor Division 5 South the 8s and 9s both faced runaway leaders Carshalton. On Tuesday night the 8s lost 8-3 while on Saturday the 9s lost 11-1. That meant that the aggregate scores against Carshalton this season were 14-3 and 25-1, ouch! The other outcome was that the 9s failed to record a single league point while posting a goal difference of -99. At least it wasn't triple figures, the only way is up!
There was a single league point recorded this week as the 2s drew 2-2 with Actonians Association. Goals from Kennedy and everyone's favourite, OG. The point moves the 2s up to 5th in the league which is a great improvement from a few weeks back.
Overall it has been a mixed season for the OWFC. Congratulations to the 4s on winning the Old Boys Cup, lets hope you can push on and secure a league and cup double next season! Commiserations to the 2s who narrowly lost out on lifting the AFA Cup, fingers crossed you can go one step further next year. Elsewhere we hope that next season is more successful for the OWFC sides and that the 9s can pick up a league point.
Finally, thank you to Mike Pike for collating all the information to go in to the match reports. Without your work Togger would be much more difficult and we'd all struggle to keep up with all the other scores around the club!
