OWFC Newsletter No. 1574

It wasn’t the most succesful of weeks for OWFC. The 1s started us off under the lights away at Abbey Rangers in the Surrey Premier Cup. They travelled with a unfamiliar team, with a number of the 2s and two school boys having to step in. Unfortunately they lost the game 2-1, and had to go into the weekend fixtures knowing they were facing top of the League Polytechnic away. With another unfamiliar side the 1s suffered their second defeat in a week, going down 3-0.

The 2s travelled to Old Garchonians, but they too suffered defeat, losing 5-2. While the 9s, so strong in recent weeks and flying high in the table, were beaten by bottom side HSBC 3-2 on Hayes.

However it is not all doom and gloom. The middle XIs fared much better this week. The 4s won 5-1 away at Ibis Eagles. The 5s seemingly never-ending battle with Polytechnic ended with a 2-0 win thanks to a brace from captain Ceejay. The contest continues next week as once again they face Poly.

Finally the 6s great escape is well and truly underway. They entertained promotion hopefuls Civil Service on Hawes, and managed to hold on to a 2-1 win despite only having 11 players. It took some last ditch defending and a couple of fantastic saves from Jack Sinclair.
