Old Wilsonians 1st  Xl  201 Verus Nonnington 98 all out - Old Wilsonians win by 103 runs!

Some solid batting by Jonathan Rodda (29), Malinda Thotiwilage (41) , Matthew Abbett (33)  Michael Mitchell (38) put Old Wilsonians in a strong position but a good second spell by Nonnington’s Josh Cork, in which he took four wickets for 13 runs in five overs, restricted their progress and they were bowled out for 201 in the 50th over. Nonnington began their reply cautiously before losing their first two wickets with the score on 29 after which the OW spinners, Michael Mitchell, 5 for 19, Dave Ellicott-White, 2 for 13 and the ubiquitous Thotiwilage, 2 for 19,  bowled the OW’s to a comfortable 103 run victory, with only Jarryd Gordon (28) offering any substantial resistance.View scorecard

Bickley Park   2nd   Xl   205  for   7 versus Old  Wilsonians’  2nd   Xl  209 for  6 Old Wilsonians 2nd XI win by 4 Wickets!

With their score on 39 for 3 Bickley Park were in need of some inspiration and they found it in the form of a fourth wicket stand of 77 between  Mick King (105) and Parag Patel (32) before the former added a further 75 in a sixth wicket stand with Michael Pym (40 n.o) The Old Wilsonian reply was a more consistent affair with Cameron Jones (29), Sanath Dandeniya (75), Dan Seston (35) and Syd Sherlock (25 n.o) all scoring well, with the latter hitting the winning runs off the last ball of the match. Bexley 5th   Xl    101  for  7,   Old   Wilsonians  3rd  Xl  102  for  9 Old Wilsonians 3rd XI win by 1 wicket!

Old Wilsonians’  3rd  Xl restricted Bexley 5th Xl to 101 for 7 in their 40 overs, despite some determined batting from skipper Samuel Hart (54) and David Hendry (22), with the OW skipper, Howard Abbett finishing with 3 for 19. In a nail biting finish the visitors just got home with two balls and one wicket to spare as the Bexley bowlers, Abdur Rehman, 3 for 9 and Joshua Curtis, 3 for 14 in particular made them work hard for their victory.View scorecard

Old  Wilsonians  4th  Xl  83,  Bexley   6th  Xl   84  for  5. Bexley 6th XI win by 5 wickets

Having bowled Old Wilsonians out for just 83 despite a defiant 32 over 17 from Derek Birmingham, opening bowler Richard Wallbridge finishing with impressive figures of 5 for 14 as they then completed the job with a five wicket victory, although they had to work for their runs as Steve Murnane, 3 for 17, who had earlier held them up with a defiant 22 with the bat, did his best to bowl his side back into the game.View scorecard

Old  Suttonians  Sunday  League side   164  for  8.  Old   Wilsonians  124. Suttonians win by 40 runs!

Surrey, in the form of Old Suttonians, beat Kent,  In the form of Old Wilsonians, by 40 runs in this play-off southern final as the two respective county champions of last season met at Hayes Hill on Bank Holiday Monday. Batting first, Suttonians were 111 for 1 at one stage, thanks to some steady performances  by Josh Blake (65), Jaimin Patel (23) and  Sam Seadon (27), but a spirited comeback by the OWs, with leg-spinner David Pilgrim  taking 4 for 24, saw them restricted to 164 for 8, which left the home side needing to score at a little over 4 an over to secure victory. However they lost two early wickets and were unable to find anyone to play a substantial innings  -  Velson Deverajulu (28) and Chris Scott (20) being their highest scorers -  and were bowled out in the 37th over for 124, Sam Seadon, 3 for 23, Sam Blake, 2 for 19, Connor Griffin, 2 for 24, Rehan Ratnasapabathy, 2 for 32 and Daniel Edwards, 1 for 17, sharing the wickets between them. So congratulations to Old Suttonians and good luck to both sides in the season ahead and, who knows, perhaps they will meet again in 12 months time under similar circumstances.View Scorecard
