Posted 15th May 2017
Old Wilsonians 1st XI 233 for 7, Chestfield 1st XI 234 for 4 - Chestfield win by 6 wickets
The Old Wilsonian innings started with a rush and by the end of the ninth over they had 56 runs on the board but seemed to have forgotten the other vital component of the game by losing five wickets by that time! Fortunately they found, in Sanath Dandeniya, a player who was a little more circumspect and his 31 helped to restore order before Jordan Thomas (88 n.o) and Josh Lawrence (34) shared in a seventh wicket stand of 84 which enabled them to reach 233 for 7, Chestfield’s A. Bennett finishing with 4 for 35. An early wicket gave the visitors hope but then Dylan Hunter (130 n.o) took over and his partnership of 132 with D.Chambers (58) laid the foundation for a comfortable six wicket victory with 14 balls to spare.
Old Wilsonians’ 2nd Xl 215 for 9, Bickley Park 2nd xl 219 for 8 - Bickley Park win by 2 Wickets
Some steady batting by Siva Ranjan (36), Louis Pryor (49), Chris Scott (16), Howard Abbett (32) and Sean Beckett (42) put Old Wilsonians in a strong position at 205 for 6 but the innings then fell away a little as Bickley Park managed to restrict them to 215 for 9 from their 50 overs, Marcos Almey, 3 for 25, and Geoffrey Williams, 3 for 75, being the most effective of the Bickley bowlers . In reply a mammoth innings of 105 not out from Mick King proved crucial and with Simon Melaniphy (21), Matt Green (46) and Julian Ramsey (29) also making useful contributions they achieved a narrow two wicket victory despite the efforts of Sydney Sherlock, 2 for 36 and David Pilgrim, 2 for 55.
Old Wilsonians’ 3rd Xl 150 for 8 Hayes 4th Xl 151 for 1 - Hayes 4th XI win by 9 Wickets
Hayes 4th Xl made short work of the 150 target set them by Old Wilsonians 3rd Xl, with Shirjeet Desai (77 n.o) and Peter Jones (56) all but seeing them to a 10 wicket victory in 26.2 overs. Earlier the Old Wilsonians innings just never got going, despite the brave efforts of Barrie Frampton (30), Bhavin Patel (48) and Jason James (34) as William Hadley, 3 for 39, Colin Couldrey, 2 for 33 and Graham Morrison, 2 for 35, displayed their bowling skills.
Old Wilsonians’ 4th Xl 112 for 7, Roan & Lambethans’ 2nd Xl 113 for 1 - Roan & Lambethans win by 9 wickets
Old Wilsonians’ 4th Xl found runs difficult to come by as the Roan & Lambethian bowlers, Adnan Ejaz in particular, who finished with 3 for 11 from nine overs, turned the screw and restricted them to 112 for 7 from their 40 overs, despite the fine efforts of Brian Pomering (28), Jeff Mascarenhas (18) and Graeme Nelson (35) By contrast the home side’s reply was free flowing, with Nazumi Husan (76 n.o) and Connell Askew (22 n.o) speeding them to a nine wicket victory in just 24.4 overs.
Catford & Cyphers 211, Old Wilsonians Sunday Friendly XI Xl 215 for 3 - Old Wilsonians Sunday Friendly XI win by 7 Wickets
Some blistering batting from Chris Scott (74) and Matt Abbett (85), well supplemented by Azman Shahan (24) and Jordan Thomas (22 n.o) blew away Catford Cyphers in just 17.2 overs in which time they managed to use 10 bowlers – the virtues of giving everyone a game cannot be under-estimated!
Catford’s innings had been a more sedate affair, the highlights coming from N. Senerath (85) and L.Prince (50), with Velson Deverajulu, 2 for 17 and Chris Scott, 2 for 33, being the most successful of the OW bowlers .
