Old Wilsonians 1st XI 148 All Out Versus Folkestone 1st XI 85 for 5 - Match Abandoned due to persistent Rain!

This game between the top two sides in the division was delicately poised when the rain, almost inevitably in view of the conditions throughout the afternoon,  brought the game to a premature conclusion. Batting first Old Wilsonians found runs difficult to comeby  as they slumped to 59 for 5 before a sixth wicket partnership of 40 between Michael Mitchell (47) and Jordan Thomas (10) restored their momentum, and when Dave Ellicott-White (16) and Mitchell added 38 for the eighth wicket, they looked like pushing their total beyond 150, but  Chris Jay, 4 for 22 had other ideas and they fell just short. It was a brave decision to resume play after a prolonged tea interval, with gentle rain falling , and Folkestone progressed to 83 for 4 before more persistent rain forced a 32 minute break, after which only four minutes play was possible in which the OWs took another wicket and Folkestone acquired two more runs towards their total before play was abandoned. The visitors returned home with ten points whilst their hostshad to be content with eight, which was just about right on the balance of play.View Scorecard

Hayes 2nd XI 242 for 4 Versus Old Wilsonians 2nd XI 67 for 0 - Match Abandoned due to persistent Rain!

An unbeaten fifth wicket stand of 171 between Michael Robertson (125 n,o) and Joshua Pratt (62 n,o) enabled Hayes to reach 242 for 4 in this top of the table clash against Old Wilsonians after the latter had seized  the initiative by taking early wickets. In reply the visitors  got off to a promising start as openers Cameron Jones (23 n.o) and George Brindley (40 n.o) raced to 67 in 19 overs before the rain, which had hovered all afternoon, had the ultimate say and play was abandoned for the day. The result sees Hayes with a healthy 48 points lead at the top of the table, with the OWs  one of a number of sides in contention for the second promotion place.View Scorecard

Old Wilsonians 4th XI 77 for 7 Versus OD CUACO 3rd XI 78 for 0  - CUACO win by 10 Wickets!

In a game reduced to 30 overs a side  because of rain, OD CUACO 3rd Xl  restricted Old Wilsonians’ 3rd Xl to 77 from those 180 balls, with Matiullah Haldar, 3 for 13, Eric Clemming, 2 for 14 and Harry Deans, 2 for 15 doing most of the damage. The visitors then needed just 16.3 overs to secure a 10 wicket victory as openers  John McLaughlin (44 n.o) and George Cook (24 n.o) knocked off the runs required, no doubt conscious of the deteriorating conditions.View scorecard

Old Wilsonians 5th XI 91 for 9 Versus Shooters Hill 3rd XI 92 for 1 - Shooters Hill win by 9 Wickets!

In a match reduced to 26 overs per side due to the poor weather forecast, the home side got off to a flying start having reach 42-0 from the first 5 overs. The highlight was Andy Steel's quickfire 31 including his first 5 scoring shots being boundaries. Shooters Hill then took a firm grip on proceedings as veteran Dave Garrett (4-31) ripped through the middle order, ably assisted by Kieran Harrison's 4 catches behind the stumps. It proved to be a very good toss to win given the OWs had the worst of the conditions when fielding as the rain got heavier. With the ball fast becoming a bar of soap and with the disadvantage of 10 players, Shoots romped home with Kieran Harrison's day to remember being capped off with 32 not out coupled with Tom Foster's unbeaten 44 as they completed their run chase inside 10 overs. View Scorecard
