Sibton Park 155 All Out Versus Old Wilsonians 1st XI 155 for 6 - Old Wilsonians win by 4 Wickets!
Sibton Park went into this game knowing that they needed to win to avoid being relegated, whilst Old Wilsonians had to win in order to stand an outside chance of promotion. In the end they were both disappointed as the host’s defeat sees them playing Division Three cricket in 2018, whilst St Lawrence’s victory at Chestfield sees the OWs finish in third place in Division Two. The game started disastrously for the Park, with both openers back in the pavilion after two overs without a run on the board. Jack. Keller (46) then dug in as he attempted a rescue act whilst Steve Hickmott (33) and Steve Rowe (25) then batted with purpose to try and set a challenging total, but Dave Ellicott-White came back to take four wickets for three runs, including that of Keller, to finish with 4 for 12 and the hosts were all out for 155. The OWs lost an early wicket to give Sibton hope before a fourth wicket partnership of 69 between Matt Abbett (43) and Michael Mitchell (27) put them in control, only for three wickets to fall for 2 runs to give the home side some impetus. However, there were no further alarms and the visitors got home with over nine overs to spare.View Scorecard
Old Wilsonians 2nd XI 179 for 9 Versus Bexleyheath 2nd xI 179 All Out - Match Tied!
Old Wilsonians and Bexleyheath finished the season with honours even, literally, as they shared a 179 tie to bring the 2017 season to an exciting end. Chasing a total of 179, the visitors lost their eighth wicket at 174, their ninth at 178 and were all out to the last ball of the season with the score level. The OW innings had been dominated by skipper Chris Scott (89) as Steve Monk, 4 for 36, strived to give his side the initiative and, at 174 for 7, Neil Alsemgeest (49) looking particularly impressive, but that clutter of wickets enabled the OWs to share the spoils.View Scorecard
Dartford 4th XI 94 All Out Versus Old Wilsonians 3rd XI 98 for 3 - Old Wilsonians 3rd XI Win by 7 Wickets!
Some inspired bowling by Joe Jukes, 5 for 13, and Stan Sherlock, 4 for 11, enabled Old Wilsonians’ 3rd Xl to dismiss Dartford 4th Xl for just 94, and but for the latter’s opening bat Neil Freeman (49 n.o) it would have been considerably worse, as he carried his bat as carnage ensued all around him. In reply the OW’s had little difficulty in securing the runs they needed for victory with Josh Holland (29), Stephen Benwell (19 n.o) and Andrew Steel (34 n.o) seeing them safely home in 25.1 overs.View scorecard
Old Wilsonians 4th XI 122 for 8 Versus Blue Star 104 All Out - Old Wilsonians 4th XI win by 18 Runs!
In their last league game of the season Old Wilsonians’ 4th Xl batted steadily, if not inspiringly, against Blue Start 1st Xl, with Dan Nichols (32 n.o), Neil Treacher (20) and Seth Clifford (16) being their principle scorers as the visiting bowlers restricted their run rate. However, the 122 they scored proved to be enough as Blue Start were dismissed for 104, Shehan Sivaranjan finishing with 4 for 16 and Steven Murname 3 for 32, with Kanthan Siva (27) top scoring for the visiting side.View scorecard
Old Wilsonians 5th XI 113 All out Versus Bexley 6th XI 114 for 3 - Bexley 6th XI win by 7 wickets!
Chasing a modest 113, Bexley 6th Xl got home with nearly 17 overs to spare in this encounter with Old Wilsonians’ 5th Xl. Batting first the OWs lost an early wicket and then did so on a regular basis and were indebted to Stuart Forbes (23) and latterly Premnath Senthitkumaran (38 not out) for more than half of their runs as all of the Bexley bowlers shared in their downfall. Bexley then lost an early wicket themselves but a second wicket stand of 95 between Joseph Howard (68) and Balaji Balakrishan (14) put them in control and they had no difficulty in securing the runs required. Old Wilsonians Sunday League XI 234 for 4 Versus Lordswood Sunday League XI 205 All Out - Old Wilsonians win by 29 Runs!
Old Wilsonians’ Sunday League Xl ended their season by scoring big against Lordswood, hitting 234 for 4 from their 40 overs, with opener Sean Beckett (95 n.o) leading the way and batting throughout the innings and Josh Lawrence (27), Matt Abbett (30) Michael Mitchell (24) and Chris Scott (23 n,o) following his fine example, with seven visiting bowlers trying to stem the flow of runs. Not that Lordswood were slouches, with Amjad Khan hitting 109, but he lacked any constant support, Michael French (20) being the second highest scorer, and they were bowled out for 205. The OW bowlers shared the wickets amongst themselves, with Michael Mitchell, 3 for 18, Stan Sherlock, 2 for 19 and David Pilgrim, 2 for 31, being the pick of the bunch. View scorecard
