Old Wilsonians 1st XI 158 All Out Versus Gravesend 1st XI 77 All Out - Old Wilsonians win by 81 Runs!

This was a game in which the ball was in complete control of the bat as Gravesend dismissed Old Wilsonians in under 46 overs only to be dispatched themselves in just 152 balls. Charley Nash was the destroyer for the visitors, taking 6 for 9, having started the game as their  wicket-keeper, and he was helped in no small way by four slip catches from Aaron Johnson, with only Velson Deverajulu (46), Michael Mitchell (23) and Jordan Thomas (19 n.o) scoring with any degree for the OWs. Gravesend were in trouble right from the start, with their top four scoring just 13 between them,  and although Aaron Johnson (27) did his best to hold the innings together he was given little support and it was left to a defiant  George Miles (13) to delay the inevitable defeat, with Matt Abbett finishing with 5 for 22 and Guy Hannah 3 for 29. The four points Gravesend gleaned from this game may not be enough to save them from playing Division Three cricket next season, whilst this Old Wilsonian victory may not gain them promotion. The last games of the season are going to test the nerves of both sides.View Scorecard

Gravesend 2nd XI 219 for 6 Versus Old Wilsonians 2nd XI 218 for 8 Declared - Gravesend 2nd X win by 4 wickets!

In this top of the table clash Gravesend 2nd Xl secured the victory they needed to  achieve promotion  to Division One, whilst Old Wilsonians must take consolation in the fact that they have had a good season and are well placed for a promotion push in 2018. Batting first the OWs started solidly with Cameron Jones (24), Siva Ranjan (64), Chris Scott (18), Sean Beckett (31) and Hugo Lovelock (40) all scoring well, but two quick wickets,  and the fact that they needed to win in order to boost their own promotion chances, induced them to declare after 47 overs with 218 on the board. And it might have worked, as they captured three early wickets, but a fourth wicket stand between Arun Rana (41) and Jonathan Hinks (84 n.o) turned the game around and the hosts got home with four wickets to spare in the 51st  over.View Scorecard

Old Wilsonians 3rd XI 58 All Out Versus Sidcup 3rd XI 59 for 4 - Sidcup win by 6 wickets!

A devastating spell by opening bowler Vineel Busireddy, who accounted for four of the Old Wilsonian top five batsmen, put Sidcup firmly in control and the hosts were bowled out for 58 in just 20.2 overs, with Busireddy finishing with 5 for 21, Jason James (29) contributing exactly half of the OW total. Sidcup then lost four wickets in chasing this small total, Howard Abbett finishing with 3 for 26, but defending 58 is never going to be easy,  and so it proved on this occasion.View Scorecard

Streatham & Marlborough 5th XI 109 All Out Versus Old Wilsonians 4th XI 116 for 4 - Old Wilsonians 4th win by 7 Runs!

9 Man Old Wilsonians found runs difficult to come by as Streatham & Marlborough bowled a tight line to restrict them to less than three runs an over and, although they only took four wickets, they must have been content with their afternoon’s work. However, in Shehan Sivaranjan, the OWs not only found someone who could match their paucity,  but also  with the ability to take wickets at the same time, as he finished with 5 for 23 from ten overs as the hosts were bowled out for 109 to fall to a nine run defeat and astonishing win for the 4s! View Scorecard

Old Wilsonians Sunday Development League XI 178 for 4 Versus OD CUACO Sunday League XI 179 for 9 OD CUACO win by 1 wicket!

ODCUACO achieved victory from the last ball of this game and, in so doing, became the first team to beat the Old Wilsonians’ Sunday league side for over two seasons! Facing a total of 178 for 4, they lost their ninth wicket on 175 but held their nerve despite losing four wickets for 16 runs with Jonathan Rodda, 4 for 21, causing their later batsmen all sorts of problems, but, earlier,  steady contributions from  Edward Nott (27),  Eashan Patel (45) and Daniel Baylis (22) did just enough to put them in the driving seat.  Batting first the OWs were reduced to 49 for 3 but Michael Mitchell (61) and Chris Scott (56 n.o) then put on 65 for the fourth wicket before Elliott Betteridge (14 n.o) added a further 64 before the innings came to a close – had it been 68 the result might have been different! View Scorecard

Old Wilsonians T20 XI 184 for 9 Versus Bromley Common T20 XI 180 for 9 - Old Wilsonians win by 1 Wicket!

In this Bank Holiday Monday game, the late afternoon crowd were treated to some hot sunshine and a cracker of a T20 as Bromley Common piled on 180 batting first as a 35 ball 67 from William Chapples provided a huge boost to their total having been 97 for 6 at one stage. Mark Solway also contributed a quickfire 33 as the wickets were shared round the OW bowlers with 2 each for James Sims, Josh Lawrence and Dave Pilgrim. The OW reply got off to a solid start as a 30 ball 54 from Jordan Thomas got them moving quickly. However, Sam Clarkson's 5 for 19 ripped through the middle order to cause a mini collapse, but Michael Mitchell's unbeaten 42 made 10 and 11's task of getting the home team over the line a lot easier as they made it with one ball to spare.View Scorecard
